The one who sows to please her sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Lust is the self-destructive drive for pleasure out of proportion to its worth. Sex, power, or image can be used well, but they can go out of control.
Self-control and self-mastery prevent pleasure from killing the soul.

Greed wants to get not only its "fair share" but more.
This is about more than money. Generosity means letting others get the credit or praise. It is giving without having expectations of the other person.

“Vainglory”—a belief that one deserves to be admired because of one’s perceived superior beauty, status, or talent.

Gluttony pertains not only to food, but to entertainment and other pleasures.
Temperance accepts the natural limits of pleasures and preserves this natural balance.

Envy resents the good others receive.
"Love is patient, love is kind..." Love actively seeks the good of others for their sake.

All the sins work together to deaden our spiritual senses, so we first become slow to respond to Spirit, and then drift completely into complacency-Sloth.
Zeal is our energetic response to Spirit's urgings.

Pride is unhealthy egotistical competitiveness.
Humility is seeing ourselves as we are; and not comparing ourselves to others.
